Today I am sharing a really interesting new line with you from Hask. They were nice enough to send me their charcoal with citrus oil collection to test out, and I couldn’t wait to try it and share my thoughts with you. This is also a collab post with my girl Mitzi from the blog The Bloggin Mamacita. Check out her blog post to see how she liked this collection, and leave her some love.
When I think charcoal in the beauty world, I think skincare, not haircare. This is what really intrigued me when I heard about this collection because I am so use to using charcoal based products to help detox my skin. I never thought about using it in my hair.
Charcoal has properties like a magnet that draw out impurities, and give a great natural detox.
Let’s talk about the packaging. I love the gray/yellow color combination it has, and I actually think the grayish color of the product is unique.
When I first opened the bottle, I obviously had to smell it. I thought that it probably would not have that “Ahhhhh how nice” smell factor to it, but to my surprise, it actually smells really good. That is thanks to the citrus oils that it contains. It leaves a fresh lemony/orange scent in your hair. Perfect for summer.
Once I started working the shampoo into my hair, I was pleased with the amount of lather it had to it. I noticed a grayish color going down the drain in the water that was rinsing out, and realized it was actually detoxing my hair so well that it was rinsing out some of my black hair dye.
The conditioner did leave my hair moisturized, and I left a drop in my hair just to keep it manageable while combing it out.
Lastly, the deep conditioner worked well too. I left it on for about 15 min. and then rinsed and styled my hair per usual.
Overall, this collection is great. I definitely was able to tell that it helped remove a lot of product that was lingering around in my hair. On a day to day basis I do use a lot of gels, serums, hairspray, and dry shampoo, so for my hair to feel weightless after this product is amazing.
The ONLY complaint I have with this line is the shampoo stripping away some of my hair dye. Other than that, it worked great for my hair.
