Hi loves!
Recently I shared a post on my favorite hair masks for curly hair, and realized that I have also been rotating between a few hair oils in my daily haircare routine to help minimize frizz, add shine, and also nourish the areas that need some TLC, so I thought I would share them with you today.

As a teen, I use to think using hair oils would make my hair greasy, and dirty looking. Oh how I thought I knew it all lol. Hair oils are actually amazing for your hair, and can be very beneficial for hair growth, and the health of your hair.
Hair Oils I Am Currently Loving
- EvaNYC Gloss Serum– Adds instant shine and contains Argan Oil. Smells amazing!
- OGX Orchid Oil– Smells awesome, feels very lightweight, and get’s my hair pin straight when using with a flat iron.
- Madam CJ Walker Coconut Oil– Nourishes, and hydrates.
- Nuxe Multi-Purpose Dry Oil– This is also a body oil, but I love applying this in the Summer (current season) when going to the beach or pool for an incredible pretty shine.
You can find a few of these at Ulta Beauty.
How & When To Apply Hair Oils
You might be wondering when you should apply a hair oil to your hair. Personally, I think you can apply hair oils anytime on either wet or dry hair. I apply them while my hair is damp and then either comb or finger comb them through. The most important thing to remember when using hair oils is that you want the products distributed evenly throughout your hair. The best way to achieve this is to part your hair into SECTIONS! My hair is so thick that if I did’t section my hair, the product would probably only coat like 20 strands and that won’t be helping much. I have seen a huge difference in how my hair dries when applied on damp hair compared to when I wait for my hair to be completely dry.
Applying hair oils to damp hair allows the product to absorb better into the hair strands allowing for better results. My curls look a lot less frizzy, and poofy when I use this method.
Benefits Of Using Hair Oils
- Awesome to help detangle wet hair (I use oils or a TON of conditioner for this)
- Great heat protectors
- Color protectors
- Reduce frizz
- Prevent breakage
- Hair growth
- Nourish
- Reduce dry scalp (Dandruff)
I am definitely a fan of hair oiling, and will continue using hair oils probably forever 🙂 There are so many other amazing oils that I have used, and love, but these are just the ones I am using up right now. Let me know if you would like a post on my favorite natural hair oils.
Have you tried any of the products mentioned above? Tell me in a comment!
Thanks for reading!
