Hi loves!
Today I want to share some tips with you on how to be productive with your work from home job or business, while also caring for small children.
Owning my own blog that actually earns an income is a blessing. I started Primp And Prime Beauty in 2015, and have grown it from the ground up. It didn’t start out perfect, but I am so happy that I never gave up on it. There is something new to learn everyday.

At the time my blog was created I had two children. My oldest was already pretty independent, and then my newborn who obviously needed my constant attention. I managed to get most work done during his nap time.
Forward to 2020, and we now have a total of four children! A 12 year old, 4 year old, 3 year old, and infant. Not to mention, they are all very active boys!
Tips To Be Productive Working From Home With Kids
Wake up EARLY!
Waking up early was super hard for me because I am either awake most of the night breast-feeding, or soothing a toddler back to bed. With much determination and will, this is possible. Choose your desired time, and set your alarm. Do not start out saying you want to wake up at 5 a.m. if you are use to waking up at 8 a.m. That will be way too hard. A more realistic time would be 7 a.m., and then gradually setting your alarm earlier and earlier as your body adjusts to it.
Organize Tasks
This helps a lot. I always have a planner on hand and my to-do list of what I want to accomplish for the day, and start with the tasks that are the hardest to get them out of the way first.
Set Kid-Free Work Blocks
By this, I mean start working early in the morning before your kids wake up, which could allow you to get to e-mails, or even start writing or finish editing. You could also do this during their nap time, or while they are with dad or grandma. I use all these times to get work done.
Don’t Overwhelm Yourself
Keep things simple and don’t load up an unrealistic amount of tasks.
Take Small Breaks
Give yourself small breaks, especially to get up and make sure that you are eating healthy meals.
Prepare Independent Activities For The Kids
If I am working while the kids are up, I have set aside a variety of activities they can do without needing my help.
My kids keep occupied with these for quite some time!
Be Realistic
Things are bound to go wrong, kids are going to take tantrums, and it may feel chaotic some days. Don’t feel bad if you can’t get certain things done, or finish a to-do list. You’re a mama first, and if you ask me, that is a full-time job itself 🙂
Being able to take care of my kids at home while also earning an income is amazing, but can also be a lot. The tips above are just a few that have really helped me balance motherhood while running an online business from home.
