BH Cosmetics Club Tropicana Palette Review + Swatches

BH cosmetics club tropicana eyeshadow palette review and swatches

Hi loves!

It’s getting pretty hot here in New York and I am totally feeling the Summer vibes. With Summer being like a week away, I have been adding brighter colors to my makeup collection to use these next few months.  One of my most recent purchases was the new BH Cosmetics Club Tropicana eyeshadow palette.  I first saw it on Instagram, and was captivated by the intense pigmentation, and awesome fun colors.

So this bright color eyeshadow palette consists of 28 foiled eye colors, an no matte shades.  Retailing for $12.50, I feel like it’s a really great price for the amount of product.  I have seen more high end neon palettes like the Urban Decay Electric Palette which consists of less eyeshadows, and costs a significant amount more.

BH Cosmetics Club Tropicana Palette Review

I believe there are several colors in the Club Tropicana eyeshadow palette that can be dupes for some in the Urban Decay Electric Palette, except that these are not matte shades. If you want a comparison post just let me know!

The packaging is really cute too. It’s  clear which makes it very easy to see if you would want to reach for it at that particular time, and also has palm trees on each side really giving off a tropical summer feeling.

BH Cosmetics Club Tropicana Eyeshadow palette thoughts

After swatching the palette, I had some mixed feelings.  I thought they would feel more buttery, but they were a bit more stiff initially to the touch with my finger.  There were also some shades that I had to go back into about 3 times to get that bright pigmentation that I saw online.  I didn’t use a primer when swatching so I am sure that will make a difference as well.  Some shades definitely felt like they will be easier to blend and work with than others due to the fact that some feel chalky when worked back and forth.  The only shade in this palette that I will not reach for because it was the worst quality is the white shade.  Maybe with a primer it will work better, but this shade crumbled when placed onto the skin and felt very chalky and less pigmented.  My FAVORITE row for both quality of the shadows, as well as pigmentation was the 3rd row.  I only needed one swipe and was blown away by how amazing they came out.

You can easily use this palette for full eye looks, or just pops of color here and there.  I will definitely be getting a tutorial up using this and would love for you to tell me what colors you would like to see used.

Will you be buying this palette?

Protect Your Hair From Heat Damage | 180Pro Heat Rescue Product Review

180PRO Heat Rescue

* For today’s post I am partnering up with Zotos Professional.  This post is sponsored, and products were sent complimentary for reviewing purposes.  As always opinions are 100% honest, and my own.  I only recommend products that I love and use myself.

Hi loves!

Today I am going to be sharing a product line that I have been using over the course of about two months and love.  I am always looking for products that protect my hair from heat damage, and that also repair old damage at the same time.

The 180PRO Heat Rescue line from Zotos Professional has made it easy for me to feel comfortable applying a blow dryer or flat iron to my hair.  I still have laid off of the heat a lot more than I use to, but I have been trying different styles where heat is involved in some way.

I hated how I lost the natural beautiful bounce and definition in my curls because of heat damage.  By using this system of products continuously, I can see a great difference in my hair.

Below I will list each product and explain my experience with each one.  I also have a video on my YouTube channel showing exactly how I use each product.  Feel free to subscribe if you’d like.

You can purchase these products at Sally Beauty Supply stores, or on  I love that these are very effective, and still extremely affordable.

Products Tested & Reviewed:

  • Heat Rescue Shampoo:  $8.99 12 oz.  This shampoo smells amazing!  It is a creamy pearlized looking shampoo when released from the bottle, and works into a really nice lather.  Unlike a lot of shampoos, my hair never felt like it was being stripped of moisture from the time I applied and worked it throughout my hair, to then rinsing.  You will notice in my video that I only apply shampoo to my scalp area and underneath my hair.  I never bring it fully down to my ends.
  • Heat Rescue Conditioner:  $8.99 12 oz.  My favorite part of washing my hair is applying a conditioner.  Something about that silky smooth texture after rinsing is so satisfying.  This conditioner goes long way.  Because my hair is very long and thick I could literally use almost half a bottle in one wash.  To my surprise I only needed one palm and a half to coat all of my hair.
  • Polish Protector Leave-In Styling Cream:  $9.99 8 oz.  Finding a good non waxy leave in styling cream is major for me.  A lot of the one I have tried have left my hair looking dull, and was like running glue through my hair.  This styling cream has more of a creamy wet texture which made it really easy to work with.  In the video you can see I was even able to brush it through my hair allowing it to apply evenly throughout my head.  There was no crunchy feeling, and the shine looked amazing.  I also love how it helped tame frizz.
  • Flat Iron Barrier Thermal Protection Spray:  $9.99 8 oz.  I know this says flat iron barrier, but I spray my hair with this even if I am using a curling wand, or blow dryer.  It also helps my ends look smooth and healthy.  There is no greasy residue left behind.

If I only had to recommend one to you, it would be the Polish Protector Leave-In Styling Cream.  It does a PHENOMENAL job!

My At Home Experience Using A Dermaroller | Benefits of Microneedling

The truth about derma rolling

Hi loves!

As a beauty blogger, I really like to push my limits and try out as many different products, methods, and tools as I can to be able to share with you.

Dermarolling a.k.a. microneedling, has been one skincare method I wanted to try out for quite a while, but never knew too much about it.  I remember seeing beauty DIY guru Farah Dhukai post an Instagram video using one to help naturally plump her lips as well as help her skin and I’ve been intrigued ever since.  The derma roller I have been using is from Petunia Skincare.  You can use code: PRIMPANDPRIMEBEAUTY20 for 20% off. (not affiliated).

Now, I know you must be thinking I’m crazy!  Why would I want to roll needles across my face? There are actually many benefits to using a derma roller and if you keep reading I will explain them.

What is Dermarolling/Microneedling?

Dermarolling is when you use a small tool called a derma roller on your skin to increase product absorption and also increase collagen production. The fine needles that are on the derma roller puncture small holes into the top layer of the skin.

What is a Derma Roller?

A Derma roller is a small hand held tool that looks like a small paint roller with a bunch of tiny needles attached to it.  The first comments I recieved when I gave a preview of this tool on my Instagram was that it looked scary.  I’m not going to lie, I definitely was a bit scared of it at first too.

When using the derma roller across your skin, you are actually causing minor trauma to the skin which sends it into overdrive to produce more collagen in those areas. It’s a nice little trick to get those areas looking smooth and full again.

What are the benefits of derma rolling?

  • Better product absorption
  • Smoothing of fine lines & wrinkles
  • Lightens acne scarring
  • Helps fade stretch marks
  • Helps reduce hair loss by stimulating the follicles
  • Helps reduce cellulite
  • Much cheaper than in office procedures
  • Reduce hyper-pigmentation

How to use a derma roller?

Before I start with the microneedling process, I first make sure that my face is nicely cleansed and dried.  The last thing you want to do is start using these needles on unwashed skin.  Since the needles do make small holes in your skin, you would just basically be pushing all the dirt and bacteria further down into your skin which would then give you major skin issues.

Once your face is clean, apply a facial serum or oil of your choice. I have been loving the Pixi Rose Oil Blend. Just remember that this is the product that will be getting absorbed deeper into your skin.  Remove the derma roller from its plastic container and with a very light hand start rolling vertically, horizontally, and diagonally on sections of your face.  Be sure to lift the derma roller off of your skin before changing motion to avoid scratching yourself.  I like to gently pull my skin back and hold it firmly while doing each area.  I usually start out by doing each cheek, chin, and then end with my forehead.  After doing this process, I apply another serum or oil and massage it into my skin further using a light tapping motion.

If you are having a bad breakout, or have fresh cuts etc., definitely avoid those areas!

You then want to disinfect your derma roller to prepare it for another use.

How to disinfect a derma roller?

To make sure I have removed the bacteria from a derma rolling session, I submerge the head into rubbing alcohol for a while.  I then run it under hot water and let it rest and dry on a paper towel.  Once dried, I then place it back into its plastic casing.

Does derma rolling hurt?

Ahhh, finally the most asked question.  To be really honest, it looks a lot worse than what it is.  I use a 1.0 mm derma roller and really do not recommend using needles bigger than that.  I know there are some scary pictures out there showing a lot of blood, etc. but those are mostly from procedures done in an office.  They tend to use bigger needles for more intense treatments.  I am not really down with having needles jammed into my face until I bleed, so I would much rather stick to a smaller one that I am in total control of at all times.

At home microneedling

The one that I have been using never hurt me.  I use a light hand and take my time.  This is definitely not something that you want to rush or be rough with.  I have felt a little prickly sensation when I get to areas like my upper cheek bones, and forehead but it isn’t anything that I can’t tolerate.  Never once did I bleed either. It really all depends on how you feel, and your pain tolerance.

How often do you use a derma roller?

Since it does cause some temporary trauma to the skin, I use mine only twice a week.  My skin hasn’t had any bad reactions to this so I don’t want to push my luck.  I have had one breakout on my cheek area on the left side of my face, but sometimes that happens when using skincare tools like this or brushes.  Sometimes it has to get worse before it gets better, but it has cleared up and I have not had any recurring breakouts.

Derma roller review

My final thoughts.

I am very happy that I have had the opportunity to try this skincare trend.  It is one that I will most definitely be sticking to in order to see further results.  The key is consistency and patience.  If you are the type of person who needs instant results than this probably won’t be for you.  I enjoy seeing how certain imperfections on my skin are improving over time.  I will be sharing a before and after of just using this for a month.  I am not saying there are drastic results yet, but I am seeing improvements little by little.

I hope I was able to answer most of your questions about derma rolling.  If not, please leave me a question in a comment below.

Is this something you would try?
